Hey mate I did a trip with the wife and kids to threadbo a couple of years ago. On the return trip we came up the Newell Highway and stopped at Parkes to have a look at the observertery and then onto Doubbo to spend a day at the Western Plains Zoo and also looked around Dubbo including the old Goal which was very interesting. From Dubbo just keep coming up the Newell Highway and join the New England Highway which will bring you into Ipswich and Brisbane.

If you want anymore details mate just let me know.

thanks ken ,the maps will be out this weekend so will have a good look .we only booked the flights as a last minute as we didnt plan to go next year but as those flight prices the temptation was to much,so we havnt made any plans on where this trip will take us but as we have travelled the coast route many times so decided it was time to go inland .we love the national parks ,wildlife and just being away from the crowds.
    thanks ja

Wow! Cool! Well, I'll be visiting Sydney next year around March or April. I hope i enjoy my visit there too. Thanks to my aunt who sponsor and invite me to visit the city. I heard it's a very beautiful city. So excited to be there!

Hey guys thanks for these helpful road trip. This just gives me an idea how to spend my next Christmas in Sydney. I think the kids would love the idea that we go on road trip. Do you know any camping sites nearby where we could take our lunch or dinner and then enjoy the glittering stars above? And I wanna know if it is safe for us to travel on road trip with the children? I really appreciate it if you could help.
    Thanks!
