Default Collecting Photographically Inspiring Places On East Coast Of Australia.

    Hello Everyone,
I have a question that is similar to a lot of others I have seen, but I am going to try to make mine a lot more specific. This is the situation:

My Fiancee and I are planning on doing a road trip in about May this year (2012). We are trying to plan an Itinerary for the trip, but on thinking about them, I cannot come up with more than a handful of locations to visit. We are very much into photography and so are wanting to collect locations that we can capture some amazing shots from. Another thing we very much enjoy is fishing from the shore at various locations, so if you have any good suggestions for locations for photography or fishing then please list them for us. We are looking for free locations and not so much commercial places. We also have a dog that comes with us everywhere, so trickier locations to reach may not be so suitable.

We are leaving from Central Coast of NSW, and will be heading north, and would go as far as Sunshine Coast in Queensland, and we are prepared to spend up to about 2 weeks on this trip. We will be camping as well, so locations that allow camping are an added bonus. For extra special locations that are worth it, we would consider paying some fees for admittance.

All I have come up with so far is:

    NSW Hanging Rock
Old ???? Gaol (Northern Central Coast – Near Port Stephens)
    The Big Banana
    NightCap Ranges
    Nimbin
    Maleny (Gardiner's Falls)
Mary Cairncross Park (North of Maleny - Sunshine Coast Hinterland)
    Springbrook
    Mt Warning
    Byron Bay
    Glasshouse Mountains
O'rielys Bird Sanctuary (Mt Tambhourine - Gold Coast)

We dont yet have any specific fishing locations chosen. We have Central Coast to Forster in NSW pretty much covered for fishing spots, so any suggestions would be better for us if they were between say Forster and Sunshine Coast.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can suggest any locations to us. We would also be interested in hearing personal opinions of the Theme Parks between Central Coast and Sunshine Coast. We know about Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movieworld, and Wet n Wild, but places like Currumbin Bird Sanctuary, or other attractions along the way to do with animals or botanical gardens or museums etc etc etc. Thanks to all

    Allan and Brooke

Hey Allan & Brooke, very sorry I can't help you on that side of the country - but good luck and have a great trip! And if you ever make it over to WA I'll be able to point out some unmissable spots here. Lol

Thanx for the quick reply Gem, We would be coming over to the West Coast eventually, but not until we are a little more set up and experienced with Road Trips and camping. When we do end up doing your stretch, then I will ask in here again for good ideas, and you will be able to inform me of locations. There is a town at the bottom of the West Cost and inland a little bit, that I have always wanted to see. It is a scary place, supposedly one of the most haunted stations in Australia, where schools used to take kids for excursions, but had to stop because of the events they were encountering out there. Apparently one of the old Station Masters was not a very nice man. Anyway it intrigues me, and maybe you have heard of this place. The town name is a single word (like Broke or Port or something). Thanx again for your help.

    Allan And Brooke.

    Hey Allan & Brooke
Sorry, the only one I've heard about is north of Perth and is called Oakabella. I don't know whether they had any school excursions go wrong but there has been heaps of trip reports with strange things happening. For me, camping in a pine forest is spooky enough! I like a good nights sleep when I'm on holiday - that requirement is way up there with good food, beer and good fishing lol
